We know that when people feel genuinely connected it creates a protective factor for when they are under significant stress. This level of connection can be built when organisations invest specifically in their people at a really deep personal level by opening up conversations and opportunities to connect and not keeping them at an arm's length. The Safer Happier cofounders have over 70 years combined experience in supporting individuals and teams to grow their awareness and skills, and in the practical application of those skills in their life, in any context. Clearly, the role of the workplace has changed in the last 30 years. Researchers Lafferty and Cook highlight that there is a critical requirement for organisations to focus on the task and the relationship to create safer, productive, profitable and happier workplaces. Sam Harris, neuroscientist, along with many others, has clearly demonstrated through research, that the concept of happiness relates directly to a person’s capacity to find perspective in what they are experiencing. Without the knowledge and strategies of how to do that, then genuine happiness will be very challenging to experience. The health benefits play a significant role in maintaining an individual’s focus on continuing their own Safer Happier journey. Our work has been tested on individuals, teams and families and our ongoing research into deepening our understanding, continues to expand what we are able to offer through this program.
